Advanced Outcomes

Competencies and Learning Outcomes

On successful completion, graduates are expected to develop advanced competencies within their education, supervised scope of practice and applicable regulations, including the ability to:

Apply advanced principles of radiological physics, imaging science, equipment and instrumentation.
Prepare patients appropriately, verify identification and consent, communicate respectfully and support patient needs during examinations.
Perform assigned radiographic and imaging procedures using approved protocols and appropriate supervision.
Evaluate images for technical quality, ensure accurate patient and examination documentation, and follow departmental procedures.
Apply radiation protection principles, including ALARA, and follow relevant safety procedures and regulatory guidance.
Support safe use of contrast media and assist with interventional imaging procedures within their authorized role and competence.
Perform quality assurance activities and recognize equipment, image-quality and workflow concerns.
Work collaboratively with radiologists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including in urgent or emergency situations.
Participate in research, critically appraise literature, apply biostatistics and communicate findings through seminars and dissertation work.
Contribute to education, service improvement and professional development as permitted by institutional policy and applicable rules.
Residency Immersion

Clinical Training and Residency

Clinical education/studentship is integrated across the four semesters. The programme should provide supervised exposure to relevant imaging procedures, equipment, patient preparation, safety practices, image quality, documentation and departmental workflow. Clinical duties must remain within the student’s competence and the supervision and authorization arrangements of the clinical site.

Confirm approved residency rotations and the availability of required modalities, including radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, MRI, mammography and other prescribed services.
Maintain a clinical logbook and competency sign-offs in accordance with the official curriculum and university rules.
Provide training in patient communication, consent, infection prevention, emergency response and radiation safety.
Confirm supervisor qualifications, clinical assessment, attendance requirements and evaluation arrangements before programme launch.
Scholarly Work

Research and Dissertation

Biostatistics and research methodology support the planning and interpretation of research.
Students should undertake a dissertation in accordance with approved institutional procedures, ethics review requirements where applicable, and the current curriculum.
Research outcomes may be presented through seminars, journal clubs, case discussions or other assessment formats specified by the university.
Professional Scope

Career Opportunities

Subject to applicable registration, experience, employer requirements and the professional scope of practice, MMRIT graduates may pursue opportunities in areas such as:

Advanced radiology and diagnostic imaging departments in hospitals and diagnostic centers.
Specialized CT, MR and breast imaging services aligned with their training.
Imaging quality assurance, equipment workflow and radiation-safety support roles within applicable regulations.
